Transforming MCSC rescu into a Progressive Web App for Greater Reach & Impact:

But, because the power of the tool increases with each new user, it's important to expand the network of individuals who might have critical information about a missing child. And the Missing Children Society of Canada has a plan to make that happen.

MCSC rescu, which was only available in app stores as a download, will be transitioned into a progressive web app, allowing users to access it directly through a web browser. This makes the app easier for more people to use, increasing the impact of the technology. This change will take effect on February 1, 2025.

 

What is a Progressive Web App (PWA)?

A PWA combines the features of a mobile app with the convenience of a website, allowing access to an app directly through a web browser on any device. You get a seamless experience, without needing a download.

What You Can Do Today:

1. Current Users: Delete the native app from your device, then visit https://rescu.mcsc.ca. Once the page loads, add it to your Home Screen. Instructions vary by device, and we've provided system-specific instructions here.

2. Current Organizations: If your organization uses a Mobile Device Management solution, please inform your IT department of this change. They will need to remove the native application and replace it with the progressive web app at https://rescu.mcsc.ca.

3. New Users: Visit our site and join the movement instantly—no downloads required!

4. Spread the Word: Share MCSC rescu with your network. Let’s grow this important community.
